Year End Information

Dear Kanétskare Families,
As we come to the close of another incredible school year, we would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to our entire school community. This year has been filled with meaningful growth, memorable experiences, and a strong sense of connection that we have built together. Thank you to our students and families for your enthusiasm, your support, and for helping make this year so special.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated staff. Their commitment to our students both inside and outside the classroom has been truly inspiring. Their care, passion, and professionalism have created a nurturing environment where all students can learn and thrive.

A special thank you as well to our School Council for their ongoing support. Through initiatives such as the Kanétskare Café, the Scholastic Book Fair, and our Parent Reaching Out grant, we were able to enhance learning across the school by purchasing resources for classrooms, the library, and physical education.

Report Cards
Report cards went home today with students. We encourage you to take time to review them with your child, celebrate their accomplishments, and reflect on goals for the year ahead. Every step forward is important and worth celebrating.

Summer Construction
Over the summer months, there will be construction in the gym area, including the installation of new doors to enhance safety between the school and the recreation centre.

Class Placements for September
Class placements for the 2026–2027 school year will be available through the Parent Portal beginning September 1st. We understand that class placement is an important and sometimes emotional topic for students and families. Please know that great care and thoughtful consideration goes into each placement. Students were invited to share the names of four peers, and staff made every effort to ensure that each child will be placed with at least one familiar peer.

In addition to friendships, many factors are considered when creating balanced and supportive class groupings that meet the needs of all learners. Because of the time and care that goes into this process, class placements are considered final and changes will not be made, unless required due to unforeseen reorganization. We appreciate your understanding and trust as we work to create the best possible learning environments for all students.

Office Hours
The school office will be closed as of Wednesday July 1st for the summer and will reopen on Monday, August 31st from  8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Any report cards not sent home in June may be picked up in the office.

School Council
Our first School Council meeting of the 2026–2027 school year will take place on Thursday, September 24th from 6:30–8:00 p.m. in the library. We encourage all families to attend and be part of this important partnership that supports our students and school community.

Fall Open House
Please save the date for our Fall Open House on Thursday, October 15th from 5:00–6:30 p.m. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open, with all proceeds supporting classroom resources, supplies, and technology.

HAAA Construction
City of Hamilton construction on the HAAA grounds will continue for much of the upcoming school year. As a result, we will not have access to the field area. The projected completion date is April 2027.

In closing, we want to sincerely thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we have built a strong, caring, and resilient school community. Wishing you and your family a safe, restful, and joyful summer.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
