Kanétskare Elementary School is attached to the Kanetskare Recreation Centre.  We are a shared facility.  We have access to the recreation pool and the beautiful “AAA” city park located behind the school.

  • Kanétskare is a dual track school, teaching French Immersion and English.
  • SAGE Quest, a program of choice, is offered at Kanétskare.
  • Many students are new to Canada and receive English as a Second Language support.

Kanetskare Nutrition Program

Here at Kanetskare Elementary, we run a daily snack nutrition bin program.   Our nutrition bins are handed out each morning before announcements, by our students, to every classroom in the school.  We also have a grab bowl in the office!  Each class receives around a total of twenty items.  This includes the following food groups:  a grain, protein, and a fruit/vegetable.  A typical nutrition bin could include frozen yogurt tubes, apples, and muffins.  We try to choose food items that do not require additional packaging or preparation to make the best use of our time within the school day.

We are almost entirely funded by Tastebuds, which isa partnership of community agencies and community members that supports and facilitates local student nutrition programs for children and youth in Hamilton.  We have acquired additional funding in the past through available community grants.  

Our nutrition program is completely run by our educational assistants and office admin and our students.
